Hawaii native, Sean Kam has always had a respect for the land, ocean and its people. Born and raised into a large family he found solace in observation, respect and appreciation of all things around him. He developed a sense of patience and curiosity for how things worked. Surfing would soon play a big role in how he would tackle life's obsticles.
Growing up around his grandparents he started taking an interest in old Hollywood films and music genres like Big Band, Classic Standards, Jazz, Classical and Film Soundtracks. This would later have a huge impact on every aspect of how he would later design.
Upon receiving his Associates in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, in San Francisco, in 2018 he started his year working internships and part-time for multiple businesses in the local San Francisco bay area. From corporate to local independently owned small businesses, he studied the functions and trades of operating a business. Those experiences with his eleven year background in the Coast Guard gave him the drive and determination he needed to be resilient, and reinforced his affirmations to start his own business. During that year he filed for his business license and registered, The Dressmaker LLC in California.
